AEP Monterey Bay California Chapter

To enhance, maintain and protect the quality of the natural and human environment.

Welcome to the AEP! – Monterey Bay Chapter. We are one of nine chapters within California. Our chapter is made up of approximately 75 environmental professionals located in the Central Coast area, which includes Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties.

The Monterey Bay Chapter provides local opportunities for professional development and networking including regular Chapter meetings, programs featuring speakers relevant to the environmental industry, training workshops, job listings, and social events (see Programs and Events). Additionally, we are dedicated to supporting students who are planning to engage in a career in the environmental field through our Student AEP Chapters and Student Scholarship Program (see Students).

Welcome Santa Clara County Members:

Over the last two years, the Monterey Chapter board has been working with the San Francisco Chapter board to find a way of providing more efficient services to members in the south bay by adjusting our Chapter’s service area to include Santa Clara County. The Monterey Bay Chapter already hosts the CEQA workshops in San Jose, which serves a four-county area: Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Santa Clara County. Expansion of our Chapter’s service boundary seemed to be a logical step to enhancing member services. Moving forward with a service area adjustment (boundary modification) was approved by the Monterey Bay Chapter Board on January 31, 2017, and the San Francisco Chapter Board on February 23, 2017. On March 21, 2017, the AEP State Board ratified an expansion to the Monterey Bay Chapter service boundary to include Santa Clara County. Welcome aboard!

We have an exciting future ahead of us. Our all-volunteer Board of Directors will be expanding as we work to increase programs throughout the region including member appreciation events, networking opportunities, educational programs, and look forward to hosting the AEP State conference in 2019. Local programs within Santa Clara County will continue and our current Santa Cruz and San Benito County members who work in the south bay will have greater access to Chapter programs. Emma Rawnsley, Programs Co-Chair for the San Francisco Bay Chapter, will continue her role coordinating programs in Santa Clara County and we welcome her to the Monterey Bay Chapter Board. The Monterey Bay and San Francisco Bay chapters will continue to coordinate and all members are welcome at events organized by either chapter.
